Mr Raymond MA



Mr Raymond MA, Vice Principal, received his Bachelor of Engineering in Information Engineering and Postgraduate Diploma in Education from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Master of Science in Electronic and Information Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has been engaged in education for more than 20 years and has extensive experience in education and school administration. He was the awardee of the Chief Executive’s Teaching Excellence Award (Technology Education) and completed the “Preparation for Principalship Course for Aspiring Principals” at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

 

Prior to joining Minxin, Mr Ma was the IT coordinator and teacher-librarian at his mother school, Pui Ching Middle School, in Hong Kong. He has taught computer science in Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination level and Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination level, his students achieved excellent results in the public examinations. He also has been a guest speaker of the HKEAA conducted seminar, to share the view on the examination questions.

 

In terms of post-secondary education, Mr Ma was a part-time lecturer in Department of Computing and Information Management, the HK Institute of Vocational Education and a guest lecturer in Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, The Hong Kong Institute of Education (now The Education University of Hong Kong). He has extensive teaching experience in the area.

 

In terms of social services, Mr Ma was a teacher advisor of the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics (HKOI), which is the renowned programming contest in Hong Kong secondary schools. It is the cradle of Hong Kong’s technological talents. In addition to coordinating the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics, Mr Ma has led Hong Kong delegates to participate in the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) and the National Informatics Olympiad (NOI). The students made great achievement in the contests.

 

Mr Ma is enthusiastic about education affairs. He was the chairman of the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE) and actively promoted the IT in education. During his tenure, he organised a few large-scale activities, including competitions and activities for students, such as HKDSE “Information and Communication Technology” mock exam, “Inter-school IT Elite Challenge” and “IT Tours for Secondary Schools”, and STEM professional development activities for teachers and more. Mr Ma has served in many committees and working groups, including member of the Steering Committee of the OGCIO, “Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools”, member of the Advisory Committee of the “Learning and Teaching Expo” of the Hong Kong Education City, member of the expert panel of the HKJC “CoolThink Programme”, professional advisor of CUHK Jockey Club “AI for the Future Project”, judge of the HKU “International Outstanding E-Learning Award” of the e-Learning Development Laboratory and judge of the Hong Kong ICT Awards “Best Student Invention Award”, etc.

 

Mr Ma is also a great learner and pursue personal growth continually. In recent years, he has completed the course of “Chinese Law and Legal System” at The Open University of Hong Kong (now the Metropolitan University of Hong Kong), and Professional Development Programme on “Practical Legal Knowledge for Schools” at The Education University of Hong Kong.

 

Joining the Minxin family, Mr Ma is looking forward to contributing his strengths and help to build a “Smart Campus” in Minxin School with his extensive teaching and administrative experience. Under the powerful support from the school board, and by engaging new and cutting-edge technology, he believes that Minxin’s students can sit on the shoulders of giants, see higher and look further. The school will provide students with a new and different learning experience. Mr Ma firmly believes that “knowledge changes destiny” and is willing to lead students to grow together in such a graceful environment.
